Lifestyle; Oliver is finally here… & we’re his company πŸ±πŸ’ž

I have been waiting sooo long to get this little boy! I am extremely happy. It’s been a year now since my Lilli died & I miss her so much still, even to this day. But I am hoping now that I can give my love to another little furry baby it will help me. He’s called Oliver, his birthday is 3rd January 2019 & he is called Oliver because I loved the film Oliver & company when I was little girl πŸ’™ (I say loved I still do)

I bought him the nicest bowls from Babylion HomeDecor on etsy, where I bought our tea & coffee jars from. Do you love them? I made sure they matched the kitchen too.. Duh!

His little bed, the bag I brought him home in & food bowl mat are from Amazon 😍

I can’t wait to watch him grow into a handsome young man! If you want to watch too he has his own Instagram – which I will link here

Lifestyle; splash the cash or penny pinching?! πŸ’·

Okay, so… Since we have moved out & have to pay for EVERRRYYTTHING ourselves now I thought why not share with you all what we have done to save a few pennies here & there  πŸ’πŸ½

To start with, Sam really wanted to be able to watch football at home. But you know sky is ridiculously priced. We opted for going with bt tv purely for the sports. We both love watching films too, but again we couldn’t justify getting sky. We have Netflix & I love it! Brilliant films & series on there so I’m happy & Sam is happy! So Sam pays Β£30 a month for broadband, phone & tv with bt sports & then I pay for Netflix at Β£5.99… Still beats sky at like Β£50 a month!

If you know me then you will know that Sam loves tidying & cleaning… Yawn πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ well because we love the house to look lovely & clean & smell fresh we do tend to replenish our cleaning products quite a lot! I tend to buy washing powder & conditioner when they’re on offer in tesco. Purely because they’re big & bulky & I can get them delivered. But everything else we tend to buy from B&M. They have branded stuff so much cheaper than getting it from the supermarket! It’s crazy.

Now onto food.. We love to eat & I was finding that getting a tesco shop every week was really getting steep. It was coming to a minimum of Β£50 a week for two of us 😩 I took everyone’s advice & started going to Aldi. Thank the Lord for Aldi! For example here are a few of the things I buy weekly & the price difference;

  • Grapes – Aldi Β£1.59  Tesco Β£2
  • Cucumber – Aldi Β£0.58  Tesco Β£0.60
  • Apples – Aldi Β£0.78 Tesco Β£0.78
  • Bananas – Aldi Β£0.88 Tesco Β£0.90
  • Raspberries – Aldi Β£1.30 Tesco Β£2
  • Blueberries – Aldi Β£1.20 Tesco Β£2
  • Peppers – Aldi Β£0.91 Tesco Β£0.91
  • Cherry tomatoes – Aldi Β£0.75 Tesco Β£0.85
  • Yoghurt – Aldi Β£0.85 Tesco Β£1.60
  • Soya milk – Aldi Β£0.59  Tesco Β£0.85
  • Semi skimmed milk – Aldi Β£0.79 Tesco Β£0.80
  • Wholemeal rolls – Aldi Β£0.49 Tesco Β£0.75

So just for these items; Aldi Β£10.71 & Tesco Β£14.04 that’s a saving of Β£3.33!

That’s just a little insight by the way. But it’s really shocking how much you can save by shopping about. And by no means do you have to follow what I am saying but it is so handy to save a few pennies here & there!

What do you do to save money?

Lifestyle; How we spent Christmas 2018 πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ½

I cannot believe it’s done already… Completely flies by. We have all that hype & then that’s it, no more 😩 I had such a lovely Christmas I don’t want it to end so quickly. I hope you all had a lovely one too.

We were both so excited & happy to wake up together in our first home. I did ask Sam what the best part of Christmas was for him & he said that was his favourite part! 😍 I’m excited to start making our own traditions!

I set up some little blankets for us in the conservatory & put the heater on so it was nice & cosy for opening our presents. Sam was cooking our breakfast & I made our drinks. We had scrambled eggs & salmon… Mmmm!! πŸ‘ŒπŸ½ we also had some Buck’s Fizz too!

I then had a loooovely hot bath whilst Sam tidied up. We got ourselves ready then went to visit Sam’s family for the day. We ate, drank & played silly games. So we were super happy & merry! I then got a little too merry & fell asleep πŸ˜‚

On Boxing Day we went to my family & had another meal 😜 lucky burgers aren’t we?! We then helped my nephews build some of their toys & played some games with them.

In the evening on Boxing Day we played friends monopoly (Sam bought it for me for Christmas) & had some yummy nibbles & drinks!

We both had such a lovely Christmas! What did you get up to?

Blogmas Day 23; our own Christmas dinner πŸŽ‰

Today I cooked Sam & myself our own little Christmas dinner because we’re going to other people’s this year. I thought with it being our first Christmas at home I’d have a trial run for just the two of us then think about hosting next year.

I am really pleased with our table & how festive it looks 😍 I loved everything about it. We even had crackers too. I am such a traditionalist πŸ’πŸ½

I cooked turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes, sprouts, carrots, parsnips & pigs in blankets.

We both love sprouts & we found a nice recipe for some a few weeks back, which we have already tried, they’re sooo yum! They have chillies & Parmesan on them! Sorry if you’re not a sprout person haha πŸ˜‚

We then had mini desserts from tesco! I don’t like Christmas pudding, so I had gingerbread & butterscotch pudding! Safe to say Sam finished it off as I just couldn’t eat it all.

What’s your favourite part of the Christmas meal?

Lifestyle; our home before πŸ‘

A lot of you said you loved the way the house looked but wanted to see exactly what we achieved. So here you go (these photos are bad quality as they’re from rightmove).. Sam’s dad helped a lot, I should say he probably done the most work πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ but yes it took a lot of time & a lot of effort. We scraped nicotine covered artex off the walls, we painted, kicked ceilings down etc. We got the keys on February 9th & if you follow my blog you will know that was a bittersweet day for me as I had my best friend, Lilli, put to sleep that morning. We moved in & had our first sleep in it on August 2nd.

Bathroom; we ripped the airing cupboard out (you can’t see it in this photo but you can just see the handle in the left of the photo) & then ripped everything else out! This to us was not usable at all.. They even left manky marks in the toilet! 😷 We also moved the toilet & sink.. Plus pushed the bath up to where the airing cupboard was. If that makes sense…

Kitchen; this room smelt so bad, the green walls were covering a horrible wood effect wallpaper too. They had hooks everywhere, like everywhere! Again this all came out but I LOVE the archway & the pantry. We did reuse that oven though as it was pretty much brand new!

Lounge; this had artex on the walls & a fireplace that wasn’t to our liking. To be fair this one didn’t take as much work!

Dining & conservatory;
I’m going to say these two together as they used to be one room. We did have a stud wall added in because the conservatory is quite big so it will be super cold in the winter.

Spare bedroom; we’ve kept the door for now as we are unable to find the right bricks to brick it up. But at least it’s lovely & light in here. This room was apparently where the dogs slept, so it smelt awful 😲

Our bedroom; so the red definitely didn’t go with our lovely grey theme in the house.. πŸ˜‚ we’ve still not finished this room though as we’re waiting for our bedroom furniture to be made! How exciting πŸ’πŸ½

Here are a few of the after’s, just to refresh your memory! But don’t forget my other blog post has lots of fab pictures of how it looks now.

Thanks for reading lovely people ☺️

Lifestyle; the truth about living together πŸ™ŠπŸ‘

I feel like now we’re settled in I’ll give you a little update, but this time on us πŸ’πŸ½ so why not share to pro’s & con’s with you all hey? I am really enjoying our little routines & obviously just seeing him everyday!  Awwww

Pro’s;

Seeing each other everyday had to be top!

He gets dinner ready for me when it’s my late finish at work & I obviously return that favour on my early finishes. Plus he’s pro at scrambled eggs for breakfast!

We’re both as nutty as each other & keep talking to all the cats down the street… I even stroke one of them πŸ™ˆ (he is the only one that lets me) I think I’m the worst… πŸ˜‚

Spoons every night (Sam shared this one)

Con’s;

Sam needs to learn to put the bloody toilet seat down πŸ˜‚

My hair all over the floor, the bed etc just everywhere & it’s even annoying meπŸ’†πŸ½

Sam moans about his knee everyday πŸš‘ (& this one) – he hurt it playing football just before we moved in, so it’s been quite a while.

Now I just need to work on getting that cat – Sam says in the new year but I’m sure he will get fed up hearing me say can we get a cat now?! πŸ˜‚  look how cute the neighbours cats are! I’ve even named them all πŸ™„

What would be your pros and cons?

Lifestyle; we had time off β›±β˜€οΈ

Myself & Sam had last week off work so I thought I’d share with you how we spent our week! Sorry to bore you all..

Monday;

We literally got up & went to the gym for 6.30am, yes we’re nuts! We then got home had breakfast & started doing some jobs! I literally did like 3 loads of washing & ironing. Plus I mopped the floors & hoovered! We had our headboard being delivered that day & the coffee table for the lounge. Sam built the table & put the new headboard on, because he’s a babe… Duh!

Tuesday;

I got up, had a doctors appointment (nothing major just a pill check) went to the gym & then popped to the bank. Sam waited at home for the BT engineer to come as we now have BT internet & TV. It wasn’t all successful as the you view box needs some sort of adaptor, yeah I’m not that tech savvy, sorry guys πŸ™ˆ we had a few more deliveries coming that day so we had to wait in.

Wednesday;

We had a tesco delivery first thing at 8am so we got ourselves ready whilst waiting for that. We then went into town, got ourselves some more plates, a doormat, toiletries etc. Sam then had a physio appointment & after that we made our way to the coast! We stopped in Wells, had a drink in the sunshine too of course! 🍸 We did have a few games in the arcades too, I’m a big kid really! On the way home we went to Thornham & stopped at Eric’s for fish & chips. Honestly the tastiest fish & chips I’ve ever had!!

Thursday;

Again, started our day at the gym πŸ’ͺ🏽 then we took Sam’s mum to an appointment later that morning & whilst we waited for her to finish we went & had some lunch! We visited a place called the lean pantry co, it’s a place that has a lot of gluten free, vegan option kinds of meals! Brilliant for me being dairy free πŸ’πŸ½ look how yum this was!

Friday;

We spent today doing jobs around the house, washing, cleaning & ironing etc. Sam washed the cars, because he’s honestly the best boyfriend ever! We then nipped back to his mum & dads so he could watch football, of course I spent my evening with the cat on my lap

Saturday & Sunday;

On Saturday morning we did a few jobs before I decided to have the most amazing bubble bath & completely pamper myself! Sam went to watch his team play football as he’s got a knee injury at the moment so is unable to play bless him. We the went to a wedding reception that evening to celebrate his friends wedding. We didn’t get a photo together 😩 but we had so much fun. A few too many cocktails were had that evening.

Sunday we weren’t hungover, just knackered. We had a next delivery come so Sam then built those… We now have nesting tables & a shoe cupboard! πŸ™ŒπŸ½

How are you spending your summer? Are you having time at home or going away?

Lifestyle; we have finally moved in πŸ‘πŸ”‘Β

Wooohoo! Finally! I am now living with Sam 😍

So far so good everyone πŸ’πŸ½ I asked Sam a few weeks ago what he was most excited about when it came to us living together, he replied ‘eating what I want when I want’. Babe.. I meant about me πŸ˜‚ although that’s what I was thinking too. So who wants a tour around the house?! Of course you do!!

HALLWAY; it’s completely empty. We need a doormat desperately & the cupboard we’ve ordered needs to hurry up πŸ˜‚

LOUNGE; we’re just waiting for some nesting tables to be delivered in this room!

OUR BEDROOM; we have no furniture in here yet so we took Sam’s bedside tables for now. We’re having the furniture built in soon hopefully ☺️

SPARE BEDROOM; this has all my furniture in it & the only thing we need to do in here is brick the door up (which I think you can just about see) & hang some curtains.

BATHROOM; this is my absolute favourite!! The only thing we need in here is a mirror over the sink πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ but how pretty is that!

KITCHEN; this is Sam’s favourite room. Completely finished in here 😍

DINING ROOM; it’s stunning! We’re going to hang a copper mirror & Sam wants to put a tv  up too.

CONSERVATORY; the only thing we have in here are lights. We’re undecided on furniture as it will fade in the sun.

So, yeah as you can see we still have a lot to do. But we have come a long way! It’s been a lot of hard work but it’s been so worth it 😍😍 if you want to see a post on the before & after’s let me know!

Lifestyle; May house update πŸ‘

I haven’t updated you for a while with the house! Sooo much has happened & we’re getting close to being able to move in!! I’m getting so excited now! I won’t bore you with every little thing because we would be here forever haha..

Bathroom;

This is literally going to be my favourite room by far! I am in love with the floor tiles…like literally if I could love them anymore it would be weird. But how beautiful right? The bath is in, we’re just needing the rest to be plumbed in πŸ›

Bedroom;

All painted & cleaned up. πŸ›Œ We’re just waiting for the carpet in here so we can put some furniture in! What should we do with the windows? I’m thinking blinds & curtains? But the windows are so big I’m not sure what would look best…

Lounge;

Same again here… We need the carpet in & to decide what’s going in the windows. We have ordered the sofa πŸ›‹ so that’s on its way at some point. Every other room in the house is very grey.. That seems to be our colour. But we opted to pick some beige for this room to switch it up a little bit πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ it still sort of looks similar though πŸ™ˆ this is the sofa we decided on but obviously in beige πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

As for the kitchen we’re waiting for the guy to let us know when he can come & put it all in. The flooring is going to be put down in the next few weeks too. I cannot wait to show you all some of those photos! The hallway is waiting for flooring.. Not much I can show you with that πŸ˜‚ & the spare bedroom is plastered ready for being painted 😍

Next time I update you maybe there will be a fully fitted kitchen & bathroom πŸ™Š or maybe a bed πŸ’πŸ½

Easter 2018; how I spent my 5 days off πŸ°πŸ£

I really tried to make the most of my 5 days off… Technically you could say it was 6 as I finished at 1pm on the Wednesday & didn’t go back until 1pm on Tuesday πŸ’πŸ½ yes I was super lucky this year!

THURSDAY; was spent completely on me… I did my washing as I usually do on a Thursday, had a bath & face mask, blogged, watched films & completely chilled out. The sun was shining so my washing day was even better  I am such an old woman!

FRIDAY; I went to the gym first, then I went to get my hair done… I haven’t had it done since before I went on holiday in November!! So this was a lovely treat. It needed a little trim as the ends were going a bit dead. So no colour this time!  Jenna does a fabulous job on my hair, always! I then went home & unpacked my George order which was full of goodies for our dining room/conservatory 😍 later that afternoon I had a good catch up with Colleen & her two little angels. Reilly (her eldest) invited me over for pizza & to watch dancing on ice πŸ’πŸ½ she’s such a grown up now!

SATURDAY; I had a lovely lay in before getting up to become an estate agent for my mums house! I then met Sam at our bungalow so we could get some painting done! Took numerous pictures of the cats that came round to see us πŸ˜‚ & then we ate his Easter present which was a box full of goodies from skinny bakery! After this we went to watch the boxing at Sam’s friends house & had a Chinese πŸ˜‹ clearly I was into the Chinese more πŸ™„

SUNDAY; Sam got up to play football so I went to the bungalow  to carry on prepping all the wood at the house & met him back home as his grandparents were coming over for a roast! We then both went back to do some painting before going to the cinema with his sister Lucy & her boyfriend! We went to watch blockers… So funny I definitely recommend going to see it!

MONDAY; we got up super early & were at b&q before 7.30 as we didn’t like the colour that we had been painting πŸ™ˆ I have never painted so much in my life πŸ˜©πŸ˜‚ but we also picked some other testers to see what we liked for other rooms! So then after about 8 hours of painting we went back to b&q to go get the other colours. No joke I dreamt about paint that night πŸ˜‚

It’s now Tuesday & I think I’m going to be asleep by 9pm this evening πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ˜ how did you all spend your Easter bank holiday?
