Lifestyle; for lent I am giving up….Β 

A bit of a different one here. I’ve decided I am not going to give up chocolate or sugar etc.. you know the usual things. I have decided I am going to give up 5lbs. Yes 5lbs in weight, not money. 

I am really trying to meet my goal weight target & I thought what a brilliant way to try to motivate myself! In January I gave up alcohol for dry January & managed to lose 5lbs so easily… I clearly love a glass of gin πŸ™„πŸ™ˆ but now I am back on the alcohol & trying to budge the remaining 5lbs.


So far I have decided to up my exercise routine. I’m now going to the gym first thing in the morning before work. The days I don’t have to get up early for work (or even go to work) I will be aiming for 10 000 steps! 

If anyone knows of any yummy snacks or ideas on making them then please let me know! Food is my downside 😩 I just love eating!

Lifestyle update; January 2018 πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ🏽

I recently put a poll on Twitter asking who would be interested in this.. So here you go the 92% of you who wanted me to start this. This is the first month of my monthly updates for you.. With a recipe πŸ˜‹ enjoy.

This months meal is such a yummy one… Chicken of course πŸ’πŸ½  Sam got a Joe Wicks lean in 15 book for Christmas so we are working our way through the book.. I have to admit though I do change it slightly. I’m a bit of a spice mad person & some of these were without carbs. I can’t be that hard on myself on a Saturday night πŸ˜‚

Meal for 1… All we did was double it & add a little bit more for it to feed 2 

1 chicken breast

2 handfuls of spinach 

2 spring onions 

A sprinkle of nutmeg 

Handful of cherry tomatoes 

100ml single cream

Handful of pasta

Sprinkle of chives

Throw it all in a wok & voilΓ  πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ


Oh my word, so yum!! It’s a lot better for us than a Chinese or pizza πŸ’πŸ½ that’s how I look at it anyway! 

And this is January’s body update. My bum is getting peachier & I am finally starting to see a waist appear. I’m far from ready to start getting abs, but I’m getting stronger πŸ’ͺ🏽

Lifestyle; update before holiday πŸ‘™πŸ’ͺ🏽

We’re off on our holibobs tomorrow so I thought I would share with you how well I have done since my last update in September! Be warned, half naked body posts here… soz guys! 


The past 2 weeks I had decided to lower my carb intake so I could get rid of the awful bloating… I definitely didn’t cut them out altogether but I was watching how much I was eating. It’s little things like bread with soup on a lunch break. You don’t need it, you’ve got plenty to eat. So I swapped it for an apple or banana to have after my soup 🍎 I also cut out cake… Too much around me at work πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ 

I also really focused on my fluids… Again I still struggle with this but I feel like I’m really getting there now! I find it better to drink out of a bottle so I can keep track on how much I have had. 


I’ve also recently been noticing how well I have progressed with some weights. I used to only be able to manage about 20-40kg on the hip abductor & adductor machines, but I have now managed to do between 60-75kg! If that’s not progress I don’t know what is πŸ’ͺ🏽

Bodyfit blog; Sweaty Betty vouchers

So recently I shared a blog post that I had written to do with fitness. I was then approached  by a fab lady who I work alongside for bodyfit. She asked me if I’d like to write a blog post for them… I was super excited for this as I said I was already starting one! 

I was gifted two Β£10 gift vouchers for either sweatybetty or whole foods. I chose sweaty Betty as I was wanting to try some new gym clothes. The postage from them was super fast! It was also very well packaged. I couldn’t wait to get browsing & I think I literally ordered some leggings the next day! πŸ’ͺ🏽


The postage again was super quick, I had an email on the Friday saying they would be delivered that day, which I think was only 2 days later!  There was a small issue of the parcel getting lost, but the customer service team were excellent & I received the parcel the following week. 

So.. the leggings!! Soooo pretty! I thought I would choose something slightly different! I always get the same colours so I got some nice blue cropped ones. They fit beautifully. They have a mesh at the front of the thigh too, so they’re ‘breathable’ but because I went for cropped I think I’ll be saving these for warmer days now πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

What I eat in a week; almost everything β˜•οΈπŸŒ

A lot of people had been asking for this post. These are just a few of the meals that I have in a week! I am in no way saying this is what others should be eating by the way, far from it, but it’s some ideas for you ☺️ 


Breakfast: most important meal of the day

I used to skip this quite a lot πŸ™ˆ now I wonder how I managed to function when I did. I’m always hungry… so I love oats, granola, yoghurt, fruits etc. These are usually what I have during the week. At the weekend I would either have this again or protein pancakes which I personally think are delicious. So I would either have granola with natural yoghurt, fresh or frozen fruit (banana, raspberries, strawberries) with a drizzle of honey & topped with chia seeds. Overnight oats are another fav of mine, plain porridge oats, milk & frozen fruit. Pop it in the fridge overnight so they soak & voila, perfecto πŸ’πŸ½ If you’re opting for the pancake route I use women’s best unflavoured pancake mix, I add a scoop of banana whey powder too & sometimes even chocolate as well πŸ™„ for the topping, depends on what I’m fancying but, chocolate protein creme (not quite Nutella, sometimes I swap) a banana, some strawberries & raspberries, a squeeze of honey & some chia seeds. It’s so tasty, trust me. 


Lunch: whether you’re at work or not

A tasty salad. When I say salad it is jam packed; lettuce, spinach, boiled egg, tuna, peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, beetroot, bacon, chicken etc. So so yummy & full of goodies. Sweet potato jacket potato, with tuna or whatever your fav topping is. Sometimes I switch it up & have my protein pancakes at lunch too. Or I really enjoy making homemade soups, they’re so much more tasty than bought ones. Tomato & red pepper is my ultimate fav πŸ…

Dinner: this is when it gets hard

So usually I have proper meals, like spag bol, or a curry etc. All I have done different here is cut out the naan bread or garlic bread as you don’t NEED it. Another fav thing to have is fish with roasted peppers, courgettes etc. Soooo yummy. Or with a salad works just as well. Don’t get me wrong I love fajitas & other meals too πŸ˜‹

         
I try, see the word try, to drink as much as I possibly can πŸ™„ I know I don’t drink as much as I should which is something I need to work on, but I have definitely upped this a lot. I also used to drink a lot of tea, I’ve really cut this down & I no longer have any sugar in my tea as well πŸ’πŸ½  that’s a big thing for me πŸ™ŒπŸ½

So, the reason why I started this journey? To put it bluntly I felt awful about myself. I’m still learning to love myself too, I do still have some bad days. But now it is more good than bad. Have you ever felt fine one second & the next you just want to cry. I have. It’s an awful feeling. So I really don’t see any better reason to make a huge change in my life. So for the past few months that is what I have been doing. 

Working out

I have upped my game at the gym. I used to go once or twice a week. It’s now more like 5 times. This has made me feel a lot better. I haven’t made the most massive of changes but I can notice that my body fat has definitely gone down a lot. I do a lot more weights now & I absolutely love the cables. Get using them girls πŸ’ͺ🏽  you can literally do anything with these. When I was going before I was using a lot more lighter weights, this is where I have noticed the improvement most as I’m really managing to get the weight increased. I like to praise myself too when I get a new personal best with weights.

Food 

So I do still have some treats, but the most of it I have changed. I couldn’t tell you the last time I had a McDonald’s etc πŸ’πŸ½ sooo, so proud of me. I’m really enjoying having stir fry! Found a really tasty sauce in tesco, coconut & lemongrass, it’s a must for you to try if you enjoy stir fry πŸ˜‹ eating plenty of greens too, I love broccoli & asparagus… I promise you I’m not weird πŸ˜‚ & all fruit πŸ‡ for breakfast I enjoy having granola with natural yoghurt, banana, raspberry, honey & chia seeds. I’ve even managed to get my mum to eat it now. I never used to drink enough water either, but I feel like I have really made an improvement with this πŸ’§ little tip; get a water bottle, fairly big so you can keep track on how many times you have filled it up


Supplements

They aren’t always necessary & not everyone likes using them but I love having them to help me build up my muscles. Whether it’s a shake or a snack I feel so much better using them. Protein plays a huge part with fitness so I would highly recommend implementing it into your lifestyle. I love banana shakes, or protein bars after a workout. I would also highly recommend taking a multivitamin. If you don’t fancy supplements, not a problem, but vitamins are amazing 😍 


Lastly your mindset is a very huge role in a lifestyle change. You have to want to do it, not just need to. It didn’t take much to persuade my mind that this is what I wanted to do. I think my anxiety pushed it along a lot quicker πŸ™  tell yourself everyday that you can do it. It honestly doesn’t matter at what speed you get there, it’s entirely your choice. It doesn’t matter if you start off on low weights, or you can’t run fast etc. You are doing it, that’s what counts.

Lifestyle change; progressπŸ’ͺπŸ½πŸ‘

So as you might all remember I posted a blog about how I had recently made a huge lifestyle change to help my confidence. I hope everyone enjoyed it by the way ☺️ well this is a few months on.

I worked out that not only was I not eating the right things (I’m sure most people do this or have done this) I also wasn’t eating enough. Don’t be afraid to have a snack, but just make sure it’s the right kind of snack. So before I was eating takeaways, cakes, biscuits etc, alongside some fruit & veg. I was also going to the gym 1-2 times a week doing mainly cardio workouts.. As you can see this wasn’t getting me anywhere! I honestly needed to sort myself out. I found my confidence got less & less. I felt awful about myself πŸ™ˆ some days to the point I would actually cry. It’s so bloody awful. January was literally the worst my body has ever looked πŸ˜“

It’s no excuse but it doesn’t help that I suffer with fibromyalgia, if you don’t know what this is or haven’t heard of it, it is a long term medical condition that causes the most awful chronic pain. To name just a few symptoms; muscle stiffness, fatigue, increased sensitivity to pain. Like I say I’m not excusing myself, but I need to learn when to carry on & when to stop. It’s a condition which has made me have to cut down hours at work. I wouldn’t be able to do 40 hours a week, let alone 40 hours & then go to the gym. BUT I am learning how far I can push myself. 

This is now a few months on, eating a lot better, working out 4-5 times a week & doing more weights. I don’t have the best strength yet, but I’m improving each day. Plus for now I am happy with lighter weights, I need to keep in the right frame of mind so I don’t scare myself away from doing this. Plus my new found love at a gym is the cables… So many things you can do.


Just remember we all get bloated, we all fall off the wagon a little. But we’re all human. If I can do this so can you ☺️

Body confidence.. The truth hurts πŸ™…πŸ½

To most people I may look like a confident girl, but the truth is I really struggle with my body. I lack confidence, I have low self esteem. Plain & simple. In no way am I overweight or not beautiful BUT what most people don’t understand is that it doesn’t matter what you look like you can still feel unattractive or not good enough.

This is a deep blog for me πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™ˆ sorry loves. But it’s also one that needs to be written. 

I have decided to start properly on my fitness now. Yeah I used to go to the gym or do my weights at home etc, but I wasn’t eating properly. I’d still eat pizza or Chinese. I don’t know what has done it, but something has made me click & think ‘I really need to sort myself out’ πŸ’‘ I’ve been finding that I feel at my worst in a gym… Like I honestly have not felt this sort of feeling before, it’s horrible so I need to snap out of it. I don’t have a flat tummy, I don’t have the peachiest of bums, I have wobbly thighs & stupidly sized boobs.. Oh god πŸ™ˆ really selling myself here πŸ˜‚  I know everyone is different but I need to do this for myself, nobody else. 

So, I have bought myself a mahoosive bundle of goodies to get me on the right track πŸ’ͺ🏽 I can do this right?!

I bought 2x shakers, either my mum is going to use one or I can have a spare to leave in my car for when I go to the other halves (well thought out I know) πŸ’πŸ½  I also bought a tub of whey protein in banana flavour (totally my fav flavour) I was making shakes with banana’s before because vanilla is just boring πŸ˜‚  this is soooo tasty! Then because I am a pancake addict, I bought a tub of protein pancake mix, unflavoured because I bought some protein creme in chocolate flavour πŸ™„ so it’s like I’m having a treat, but it’s good for me πŸ™ŒπŸ½  yaay

This stuff is just ridiculously CUTE 😜 really love their packaging too. It’s about time something girly came up in this industry. So I got myself a mug, for when I have my your tea, lemon water, or green tea β˜•οΈ some chocolate bars, yes more chocolate but these are guilt free 🍫 & they taste like the real deal πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ & another shake mix, but this time it’s porn star martini flavoured!
