Lifestyle; our Valentine’s Day 2019 πŸ’ž

We’re not huge valentines people but we still like to just show we do love & appreciate each other! We didn’t do presents last year as we had just got the keys to the house. So we actually decided to be soppy this year 😍

Sam wasn’t here for Valentine’s Day this year, he had gone skiing with his dad, so we celebrated on the Friday. I didn’t want to go out this year as we now live together & it’s our first Valentine’s in our home so I wanted to make the most of that.

Sam got me some flowers delivered on Valentine’s Day… He is a good’un! He also ordered me some bath bombs from bomb cosmetics which came in the week too & I enjoyed those πŸ› he knows me so well. I bought Sam a cute photo book from free prints & a belt from Levi’s.

I cooked us a yummy meal & decorated the house a little bit too. Sam had steak & I had fish. Then we enjoyed some brownies & cookies that I had baked the day before.

How did you spend your Valentine’s Day?

Fashion; valentines date night outfits πŸ‘ β€οΈ

This post will have some outfit ideas for whether it’s valentines or galentines πŸ’πŸ½ … If male friends go out together is it called ladentines or palentines? πŸ˜‚

Firstly this is my favourite red dress! It fits so nicely, it’s comfy & it’s long sleeved so keeps you warm too (seeing as it’s still winter) it’s from prettylittlething. I bought it about two months ago though & I can’t find the link for it πŸ™ˆ sorryyy!! I’d pair it with a black bag πŸ’πŸ½

Now this is what I would wear for ‘galentines’ – I absolutely love these trousers! They feel like pjs, but look the part πŸ’πŸ½πŸ˜‚ I think putting them with a glam top makes it more of a going out sort of outfit. I didn’t know which bag I would choose.. Possibly the glittery one as the other one is quite summery. The trousers are from boohoo & the top is from prettylittlething. The silver clutch is also prettylittlething. The floral bag is years old, sorry again! But I love it 😍

Lastly, another red dress. This time it’s ruched so it’s not so tight around the tummy. Which is perfect if you’re going out for a meal πŸ™„ well for me anyway πŸ˜‚ it’s more of a pale red too. Again it’s from prettylittlething & this time I do have the link for you!

Or.. If you’re doing what I’m doing & staying in I would suggest a massive fluffy jumper or your pjs πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Sam’s a lucky man isn’t he?!

Hope this gave you some inspiration! What are you doing this year?

Beauty; colourful eye look 🎨

This is completely different for me as usually I like to wear quite heavy eyeliner. I loved doing this look though. I think it makes my eye colour really stand out!

I used revolution beauty eyeshadow palette Petra in the shade canary for the yellow. I used this on the inner corners of my eyes & my water line. I then used the mermaids forever palette, again revolution makeup, to get the purples & blues! These palettes are amazing. They’re so cheap & for the price they’re pretty pigmented. Highly recommend these.

I use a mixture of products on my brows. I like to line them with nyx microbrow pencil, then use benefit cosmetics ka-brow to fill them in!

My foundation is always rimmel! This is using wake me up. It’s my fake tan foundation πŸ˜‚ please tell me other people have specific one for when they’ve fake tanned too?

To finish the look my highlighter is makeup revolution, again πŸ˜‰ & my lipstick is a matte pencil from Lord & berry! My lashes are prima lashes & they’re so good. I think I’ve reused them at least 4 times now πŸ’πŸ½πŸ˜

Lifestyle; I completed dry January!! πŸ”žβŒπŸΎ

Can you honestly believe this… It’s very surprising I know πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

I usually drink every weekend. I don’t binge, I don’t go out & get ‘wasted’ I am waaaay too old for that, but I do like a bottle of wine or a few gins at the weekend.

Sam actually failed… He failed the first weekend as he had a pint at the pub after football πŸ˜‚ he tried very hard to make me fail too ‘nobody will ever know caitlin’ πŸ™ˆ well… I didn’t cave!!

*I allowed myself one glass of prosecco on a family birthday, but to make up for that it’s now February 1st & I’m not having any alcohol*

So how did I do it? Plenty of water/squash, copious amounts of cups of tea & mugs of hot chocolate. Plus I did eat a lot of chocolate & biscuits in replacement… But I am proud of myself. It shouldn’t be a big thing but honestly I’m a happy girl that I achieved it. I also managed to lose the 4lbs I put on over Christmas/new year & an extra 1lb! WOOHOO!

I am going to try to have February without treats now. This means no cake, chocolate or biscuits. Did anyone else do dry January or veganuary?

Lifestyle; Netflix suggestions πŸ“½

These are just a few things on Netflix that I would recommend. Sorry if I spoil anything for anybody or if you’ve seen all of these already! πŸ™ˆ

If you haven’t watched this already then you really should. Non stop laughs… Although I did watch it & think to myself I swear this is not what high school was like πŸ˜‚ every character had a good part in it! *spoiler; the ending isn’t what you’d hope it would be*

YOU πŸ’‹

Okay okay… So I didn’t see the big hype when I first started it. I felt like I was watching some weird porn diary (Why is everything on Netflix at the minute sex related?!) Anywho, I persevered & by the 9th episode I was itching to see how it ended. Each episode had me hooked a little bit more. The ending?! I mean who would have thought that would happen?

Sam & I watched this just before Christmas so we hadn’t heard anything about it. We loooved it. We like things that we have to think about & keep us on edge. It is very long though so I’d make sure you have plenty of snacks.

This was our absolute favourite 😍 I love scary, jumpy kind of things! I honestly thought this had the best storyline. Some episodes literally made me jump so much! Plus it had one of the best endings ever. I hate when you’ve enjoyed watching something then the ending is pants. Well this series did not disappoint.

I don’t even think I need to write anything. Classic! I’ve just started rewatching from the beginning again.

Even though this is now on e4 I did start watching it on Netflix. I love the story of this & that you think it’s going to be something supper happy & wishy washy, but it’s not. It’s brilliant. Anything with Kirsten bell in it is obviously going to be good!

We love watching some weird sorts of films, we’re a little bit dark πŸ˜‚ this is sort of like watching someone do an escape room mixed with saw. So yes, obviously the story is an escape room… It’s in the title. But if you don’t like weird gore sort of things, then this isn’t for you.

Speaking of scary/gory things. We’ve just started watching slasher πŸ’πŸ½πŸ˜‚

Lifestyle; splash the cash or penny pinching?! πŸ’·

Okay, so… Since we have moved out & have to pay for EVERRRYYTTHING ourselves now I thought why not share with you all what we have done to save a few pennies here & there  πŸ’πŸ½

To start with, Sam really wanted to be able to watch football at home. But you know sky is ridiculously priced. We opted for going with bt tv purely for the sports. We both love watching films too, but again we couldn’t justify getting sky. We have Netflix & I love it! Brilliant films & series on there so I’m happy & Sam is happy! So Sam pays Β£30 a month for broadband, phone & tv with bt sports & then I pay for Netflix at Β£5.99… Still beats sky at like Β£50 a month!

If you know me then you will know that Sam loves tidying & cleaning… Yawn πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ well because we love the house to look lovely & clean & smell fresh we do tend to replenish our cleaning products quite a lot! I tend to buy washing powder & conditioner when they’re on offer in tesco. Purely because they’re big & bulky & I can get them delivered. But everything else we tend to buy from B&M. They have branded stuff so much cheaper than getting it from the supermarket! It’s crazy.

Now onto food.. We love to eat & I was finding that getting a tesco shop every week was really getting steep. It was coming to a minimum of Β£50 a week for two of us 😩 I took everyone’s advice & started going to Aldi. Thank the Lord for Aldi! For example here are a few of the things I buy weekly & the price difference;

  • Grapes – Aldi Β£1.59  Tesco Β£2
  • Cucumber – Aldi Β£0.58  Tesco Β£0.60
  • Apples – Aldi Β£0.78 Tesco Β£0.78
  • Bananas – Aldi Β£0.88 Tesco Β£0.90
  • Raspberries – Aldi Β£1.30 Tesco Β£2
  • Blueberries – Aldi Β£1.20 Tesco Β£2
  • Peppers – Aldi Β£0.91 Tesco Β£0.91
  • Cherry tomatoes – Aldi Β£0.75 Tesco Β£0.85
  • Yoghurt – Aldi Β£0.85 Tesco Β£1.60
  • Soya milk – Aldi Β£0.59  Tesco Β£0.85
  • Semi skimmed milk – Aldi Β£0.79 Tesco Β£0.80
  • Wholemeal rolls – Aldi Β£0.49 Tesco Β£0.75

So just for these items; Aldi Β£10.71 & Tesco Β£14.04 that’s a saving of Β£3.33!

That’s just a little insight by the way. But it’s really shocking how much you can save by shopping about. And by no means do you have to follow what I am saying but it is so handy to save a few pennies here & there!

What do you do to save money?

Lifestyle; house update 2019 πŸ‘

The last time I posted about our home was a few months ago now. I think a few things have changed since then, so let me show you ☺️ Mainly it means I have added little decorative bits & we have tidied everywhere. But you can see the difference πŸ’πŸ½

Our spare room was literally just being used as a dumping ground & it was beyond messy. We just used to tell people not to look in there when they came round. Now it’s a lot less messy & looks usable. Sam has been busy boarding the loft so pretty much everything went up there! I’m really happy with this room now.

The rest are just little finishing touches I have added! We’ve got photo frames, candles etc it’s just becoming more & more homely 🏑 most of the decorative touches I bought from Matalan. Honestly I could spend £££’s in there. It’s my favourite place at the moment! The living room especially is just made up of some nice new frames & always having flowers in there (courtesy of the mother in law) so it looks fresh & pretty!

I did treat us to some new pillows & a new duvet cover set for our bedroom too. It’s not just the guests that get a pretty room to sleep in. Plus some more fresh flowers!

We still don’t have any furniture in the consevatory yet. We both don’t really know what we want in there yet. Well we do, but not the exact things to buy. I did get us one of these knitted footstools though 😍 cannot wait to have that in there!

Beauty; gold-y looks & the three makeup brushes πŸ’‹πŸ’„

Back with the makeup looks for you all. You can ignore the caption, I didn’t use 3 makeup brushes, probably more like 6/7… I was just trying to be funny πŸ™„πŸ˜‚ did it work?

For this look I used;

  • Nyx microbrow pencil in brunette
  • Benefit kabrow in shade 3.5
  • Rimmel wake me up foundation in shade soft beige
  • Beauty kitchen primer
  • Lashes are primalash in D11
  • Bella Pierre highlighter
  • Makeup revolution blush in shade bloom
  • Gerard cosmetics liquid lipstick in shade 1995
  • Benefit roller lash mascara
  • Bella Pierre banana setting powder
  • Makeup revolution reloaded eyeshadow palette
  • Revolution pro entranced palette shade beguile
  • Rimmel exaggerate liquid eyeliner

I really think these shades are so warming! Don’t you? I love the brown lips with the orange & gold tones. It keeps the look warm & compliments my skin tone.

I’m getting much better at ‘baking’ too. It really is a must for under your eyes! It makes them look so much more flawless. I use real techniques sponges for doing that. Do you bake your makeup?

One thing I need to learn is how to do winged liner. I am awful at it. I feel like it would make my makeup looks look so much better! Winged liner helps you shape your eyes & finish your eyeshadow. Plus it just looks super glam too πŸ’πŸ½

What’s your favourite part of putting makeup on?

Lifestyle; girly secret santa πŸŽ…πŸ½πŸŽ

Waaaay back in March I set up a whatsapp group of girls who literally just wanted to talk about girly things & life! It’s still going strong to this day (a few people have left but sometimes it’s just too much to keep up. We do still support each other on insta though) so we decided to do secret Santa between us all!

Lydia kindly set it up for us, thaaaanks, & we had a Β£10 budget.

So this is what I received from my secret Santa! I cannot Thankyou enough for all of these goodies! So so kind! I think Sarah was going down the flat lay route for me πŸ’πŸ½ she knows me well.

Okay, so this is who had who;

  • I had Paulina
  • Paulina had Ellie
  • Ellie had Sarah
  • Sarah had me
  • Emma had Lydia
  • Lydia had Jess
  • Jess had Kirstie
  • Kirstie had Emma
  • Bryony had Amanda
  • Amanda had Robyn
  • Robyn had summer
  • Summer had Sam
  • Sam had Lulu
  • Lulu had Bryony

As you can see there are a fair few of us πŸ™ˆ and this is just a few of the gifts that the girls received! We also sent out Christmas cards to each other as well 😍😍 honestly we’re so cute.

Do you like doing secret santa?

Beauty; pretty in pinks… & purples πŸ’πŸ½

I decided to take some time to do my makeup on Christmas Eve. I very rarely make much of an effort in the week. Usually I just cover up my bags & dark circles πŸ˜‚

So let me tell you what I used;

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills norvina palette shade love
  • Revolution pro entranced palette shade captivated
  • Benefit roller lash mascara
  • Dior undercover foundation shade 024
  • Bella Pierre banana setting powder
  • Benefit ka brow shade 3
  • Gerard cosmetics matte liquid lipstick in shade ecstasy
  • Primalash lashes in D11

Because I hadn’t fake tanned for a few days I thought I’d do a lighter/brighter look as I  didn’t want to look too washed out. I applied my makeup with spectrum makeup brushes. They’re my favourites. I’ve also used makeup revolution highlighter on my nose & on the inner corners of my eyes.

I think pinks & purples really bring out the green in my eyes!
